ti&m hosted this month’s AngularJS meet-up at our headquarters in Zurich. Our very own Nestor and Mato gave an introduction to SystemJS and JSPM and demonstrated how you can use these two tools to optimize your development workflow and improve performance for small and large AngularJS applications.

JSPM is a package manager for the SystemJS universal module loader, built on top of the dynamic ES6 module loader. How could we use it in conjunction with AngularJS? And would it help us to lazy-load our dependencies? The workshop covered a small introduction of how to integrate JSPM with an AngularJS application and how to bring laziness to it.

After the two exciting talks, ti&m sponsored some beer and pizza so that the engineers didn’t have to indulge in heated development discussions on an empty stomach.

About the speakers

Néstor Tarin Burriel is a Senior Software Developer at ti&m in Switzerland, an innovative Swiss IT service provider. He has developed his career in different areas, but started years ago developing in Visual Basic 6.0 passing by C#, ASP.Net and Java. He was skeptical about frontend technologies and avoided writing any JavaScript by using technologies like JSF + ICEFaces / GWT. However, a couple years ago he changed his mind and took the chance to work with frontend technologies and fell in love with AngularJS. Since then, he has been trying to convince "old-school" developers to not be afraid of frontend technologies (like he was).

Mato Ilic is a Senior Software Developer at ti&m in Switzerland, an innovative Swiss IT service provider. He has been developing with JavaScript since the dark ages of Netscape Navigator and never lost the passion for it. He survived all the frameworks thrown at him through time, like Prototype.js, ExtJS, Angular or React. Since not all can be done in the browser, unfortunately, he also does backend development in Java, PHP, Ruby, .Net, NodeJS or whatever the customer orders.

How Does HCE Address the EMV Goals?

Not a day goes by without new mobile payment apps popping up or the Original Equipment Manufacturers, also called OEMs, launching their own mobile wallets (Apple Pay, Samsung Pay, Android Pay) in additional countries. Especially Switzerland plays an interesting role by focusing on the payment solution TWINT to solve the local mobile payment needs. However, regardless of the payment app and underlying technology, all solutions need to balance usability and security in order to justify a valid business case.
