Open source software: trends, potential and challenges
The term open source has been around for 25 years and still plays a central role in digitalisation today. The EMBAG (Federal Act on the Use of Electronic Means for the Performance of Official Duties), which comes into force in 2024, obliges the federal administration to publish software under open source licences and release data as open government data in future. This will lead to greater openness and innovation in digital administration.
In this live webinar, we will present the latest technological and legal developments as well as the opportunities and risks of open source software. In addition to the characteristics and significance of open source software now and in the future, we will present some interesting practical examples from the current open source environment. By gaining a better understanding of the relevance and function of open source software, you can give decisive impetus to the digitalisation of your organisation.
